A tribute dedicated to the life of Matthew E. Colwell
On the morning of February 29th 2016, the world lost the brilliant mind and beautiful heart of Matthew Colwell.
The Matthew E. Colwell Legacy seeks to honor the life of Matthew Colwell by supporting Rhode Island students who are preparing for an entrepreneurship venture. All proceeds will be donated to selected high school seniors based on a business plan presentation.

2026 Collection
“I wanted to take a new approach to the design concepts for this year’s 2026 Rest In Power Collection, and the only thing that kept ringing in my ears was to ‘design things that Matt would like himself.’ So I stepped back from the creative direction of previous years and sank into the quiet nostalgia of old photos, long-forgotten screenshots, and anything that echoed ‘Matt’. This new collection was meticulously crafted with Matt in mind. My intention was to move beyond ‘just a dedication’ and create something that felt like a deeper ode to him. I hope you enjoy these pieces just as much as I’ve enjoyed designing them.” – Zack Deus
About the Design: The ‘Wreath of Wrath’ features a hurricane of cherubs (that nod back to the original Rest In Power graphic from 2016), mixed with various florals & skulls - reminiscent of some of the most iconic Y2K streetwear imagery that ruled in popularity when SOSICO. was in its prime. Interwoven throughout the wreath is Matt’s iconic mariner-style chain that he was known to wear daily. Final highlight is a sneaky little pot leaf poking through in one corner.

About the Design: The ‘Eternal Flame’ is inspired by one of Matts favorite clothing brands, “Two In The Shirt”, or better known as “TITS”. Matt had what seemed like a closet full of these tees that featured half-naked models in various poses with slogans adorned as a massive screen print across the front. For a slightly more “tasteful” approach, but to still honor his taste, I went with a pinup style model flicking a cigarette and tied it back to the reminder to keep the fire burning in Matts’ name eternally, so that he’s never forgotten.

About the Design: As true to Matt as it gets, this shirt was designed to be brash and unapologetic. Sometime around 2012, New York-based designer, Ruslan Karablin of SSUR parodied the famous high-fashion label “Comme Des Garçons” branding into “Comme Des Fuckdown”. The popularity of the parody skyrocketed and became a cultural phenomenon on Tumblr that year after it was heavily adopted by A$AP Rocky and the A$AP Mob - some of Matts’ favorite artists & style influences at the time. I know this piece isn’t for everyone, but I also know that it’s an in-your-fucking-face conversation starter piece that will make sure people know his name. And if they don’t, they’ll definitely ask.

About the Design: The rose is historically one of the most symbolic flowers and carries different meanings depending on color, bloom and context. In memorials, a traditional red rose typically represents the deepest emotions associated with the grief and the ache of missing someone.

Amongst the many scholarship opportunities available, we seek to honor Matthew through a different means; by offering start up funding to young, local entrepreneurs who may be in the same place that we once were in 2012.
